Luas Live Info Real Time Passenger Information

Before Luas started Operations in 2004 Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) systems were designed and then built into the Luas stops, trams and systems. Luas has had Real Time Passenger Information forecasts of tram arrivals at each Stop since the system opened in 2004. Over the years Luas have added more and more ways to view this information and upgrades to existing ways to view information. We hope to continue improvements over coming years.

You can get now get Luas Live Info (RTPI) forecasts of tram arrivals at each Stop in a number of different ways:

Passenger Information Displays at Stops (PIDS)

Luas has had Real Time forecasts of tram arrivals at each Stop since the system opened in 2004. The Luas Green Line PIDS were up and running from the first day of operations 30th Jun 2004 and the Luas Red Line PIDS were up and running a couple of months later when the Luas Red Line opened on 26th Sept 2004.

Luas Passenger Information Displays provide Real Time forecasts of tram arrivals direct from the Luas systems. Tram movement data from the Trams and Tracks is fed back to the Control Room systems which then send Live Info forecasts to the Passenger Information Displays at the Luas Stops.

We are constantly monitoring the Passenger Information Displays and have upgraded them and improved them over the years. One key improvement has been the conversion of single sided PIDs to double sided at many Luas stops. Plus ensuring all new PIDs, such as those on Luas extensions, are double sided.

Unofficial Luas Applications

There are a number of unofficial Luas applications for iOS, Android and Windows Mobile. These applications are not supported by Luas and Luas has no access to them to test or fix them if something goes wrong. These unofficial apps don’t have a travel update message or a link to the live newsfeed thus they don’t provide you information when there is a service disruption. If an unofficial Luas application lets you down please contact the developer directly via the relevant App Store.

Spotted a Problem?

From time to time all systems develop problems and Luas Live Info is no exception. If you spot something wrong please email info@luas.ie to let us know. If you can tell us which Live Info feed you were using i.e. iOS App, mobile website etc., what stop you were at, the date and (approximate) time that would really help us. We always do our best to track down, investigate and fix any problems with the Live Info systems.
