Job Title Driver Team Leader  

Reporting to Driver Operations Duty Manager  

Responsibilities 

This safety critical role has been developed to contribute effectively to the safe operation of the Luas light rail system through the delivery of the following functions:

  • Supporting the LDMs in the safe efficient operation of the Luas system through line management of driving staff.  
  • Delivering all Safety Accountabilities, as described in detail in KeolisAmeyLuas Safety Management System. 
  • Delivering first class management of a team of Tram Drivers through a performance management framework, including sickness absence monitoring, disciplinary and development reviews.  
  • Working with the Training Department to ensure appropriate Driver training and Driver assessments matched to competency requirements.  
  • Acting as Incident Manager, when required.

Competencies 

  • Attendance: Excellent attendance and timekeeping record. 
  • IT skills: PC literate (Word/Excel/Databases). 
  • Communications: Must be capable of effective written and verbal communication as well as having excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Approach: Responsive and flexible approach to work, with a "can-do" attitude to requests and tasks.  
  • Initiative: Self-starter with ability to work on their own initiative. 

Experience

  • Light rail experience: At least one-year’s Tram Driving or Control Room experience. 
  • A Minimum of 12 months clear safety record.
  • Supervisory experience: Previous experience of working in a supervisory role. 
  • Technical ability: An excellent technical ability regarding fault finding. 
  • Education: Minimum of leaving Certificate level of education. 
  • Operational procedures: Sound knowledge of all KeolisAmeyLuas operational procedures. 
  • Driving licence: A full clean driving licence as well as an excellent Tram Driving record.
